Isiolo County implements Sustainable Management and Access to Water & Sanitation in the ASALS programme(SWASAP).
Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan today signed an MOU for the execution of Sustainable Management and Access to Water & Sanitation under the ASALS program with the Water Sector Trust Fund, chaired by Chairperson Mr. Bill Lay and Ag CEO Mr. Willis Ombai (SWASAP). Kes 150 million was given to Isiolo for water developments in the Merti and Garbatulla Subcounties. In 3,000 homes and 90 villages in Isiolo County, the SWASAP initiative seeks to promote community resilience and adaptation to climate change. Isiolo County will contribute $13.5 million to the projects' completion.
According to Guyo, the project will include the following: drilling a borehole at Bulesa, piping to Biliqo using HDPE pipes, installing 240 home water connections, two water troughs, improving sanitation, and constructing a 50,000 m3 water pan.
2. A pipeline extension of 8.6 km from Sericho to Biliqo, Gubatu Pry, Sericho Pry, and Bahari girls. Other projects include the construction of a 32 m3 elevated still tank at Gubatu, a 30 m3 masonry tank at Bahari Girls, the rehabilitation of a tank at Biliqi, and water kiosks at Biliqi and Sericho, as well as the installation of 11 water meters at each kiosk. Gafarsa: digging a well, outfitting it with piping, and enhancing the distribution system. 50m3 elevated steel tank, one water kiosk in the town of Gafarsa, and hygienic upgrades. Iresaboru; desilting and enlargement of water pan to 50,000m3 capacity
According to him, the County Government would keep moving forward with short-term initiatives like providing gasoline and water trucks to hundreds of herders affected by the drought.
