Isiolo County government funds youth who want to learn technical skills

The Isiolo county government intends to establish more polytechnics at the ward level in order to provide youngsters with the technical training they need to participate in the nation's growth in accordance with Vision 2030.

According to Dr. James Lowasa, Deputy Governor of Isiolo, more local youth, both skilled and unskilled, will be employed by development projects like the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia-Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor and Oil Refinery.

The DG stated that Isiolo is better suited for persons with abilities that might benefit them by earning decent money and raising living conditions while addressing to delegations from the Ministry of the East African Community led by Principal Secretary Dr. Kevit Desai.

According to Lowassa, 80 percent of the local population were pastoralists who relied on livestock, but more than 50 percent had moved to metropolitan areas in search of seasonal work as a result of the ongoing drought and cattle theft from surrounding Counties.

He continued by saying that because most people were idle and had turned to hard drugs, there was an increase in mental health cases throughout the County, but particularly in town centers.

According to the Principal Secretary, there are seven regional trading blocs in East Africa, and once the development projects for the Horn of Africa get underway, more jobs will be generated by them.

According to Desai, his department was in charge of changing numerous tax and business regulations, which considerably enhanced Kenya's business and investment climate.

In 2019, when Kenya was recognized as the third most reform-empowered economy in Africa, it rose from 136th place in the world to 56th place.

According to the PS, the government has started to concentrate on value chains, sector-specific reforms, and changes at the county level, as well as strategically assessing and accelerating the reforms.

In an effort to raise living standards and promote economic growth, he continued, the government in Kenya aims to address the top objectives determined by the stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
